12/21/2023 0 Comments Skipper boatI am sure you can appreciate that we have a lot of people to speak to regarding this and will be doing our best to get in touch with everyone. If you have a holiday booked with us and we think your holiday will be affected by this then we will be in touch with you in due course. All we can say is that as soon as we know we will share the information freely. We would like to think the restrictions only lasts a short time maybe a few weeks but we genuinely don’t know. A lot will be depend on the weather, the more it rains the sooner the restrictions will be lifted on the locks. So you still have plenty of cruising ground and can come on your holiday as planned. Holiday Hirers: This restriction will mean that you unfortunately will not be able to sail west beyond Gargrave, however the canal is open East of Skipton as we have sufficient inflows of water into the Skipton pound to allow boat movement down towards Leeds. Unfortunately, a dry few months on top of ongoing reservoir repairs meaning that we have less water available to us has now led to the fact there simply isn’t the water needed to put into the canal to allow the locks on the summit pound to be operational.ĭay Boaters: This restriction will make absolutely no difference to you as you don’t go through the locks on the day hire. ![]() We have received information from Canal and River Trust to say that unfortunately the reservoir holdings that supply water to the summit pound of the Leeds Liverpool are nearly empty and therefore some closures will need to take place to allow these reservoirs to refill.įrom Monday 18th July the locks west of Skipton (Gargrave and beyond) will be closed until further notice. ![]() WATER RESOURCES - CANAL CRUISING RESTRICTIONS - UPDATED 1ST JULY 2022
